I want to take the time to address the ever-prevalent question - "How will Covid-19 affect my wedding or event plans at Shining Waters". I want you to know that I understand the stress and anxiety that can come with planning, without being amid a pandemic. I assure you that Shining Waters is monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely and will keep all our clients up to date as information becomes available. With so many affected, I plan to work with all clients on the best solution following guidelines set by the CDC, local and international health authorities.

My hope is that we are all following government recommendations and we will all be able to move forward in progress towards safe events and weddings. Below you will find policies we are required to follow and options Shining Waters has come up with in hopes that it will help alleviate some of the stress.

Postponing Your Event

Should you choose to postpone your event, it is ideal that you let us know as soon as possible. Not just to ensure your choice of date but to check availability with catering. Note that food & beverage prices can change, updates are available in February of each new year. I am happy to provide a list of alternative dates Shining Waters has open. Note: There are limited Saturday dates available during peak season for 2021 due to the high level of postponements. However, we do still have Fridays and Sundays open! Dates will be given on a first come first serve basis


With regards to payments, any amounts already paid, including deposits, will be carried over to your new date. Another deposit is NOT required to move your date. I am currently working with our preferred caterers about their pricing structure and will update once I have clearer information. Note: Asado catering requires a deposit to hold your date. Payment schedules will be adhered to at 60 days, 30 days, and 14 days (see payment schedule below or refer to your signed agreement).    

Payment Schedule

  • 60 Days Prior to Event Date - Client agrees to pay a minimum of 50% of the estimate based on their current guest count.

  • 30 days Prior to Event Date - Client agrees to pay a minimum of 75% of the estimate based on their current guest count.

  • 14 Days Prior to Event Date - Final numbers are due along with menu choices and confirmation of rentals and services. Client agrees to pay 100% of the final confirmed invoice. 

Choosing To Move Forward


We will be taking necessary precautions to ensure sanitation and safety measures are met.


Some precautions we are implementing are:

  • Shining Waters will be increasing our cleaning and disinfecting standards to ensure all surface areas, handles, etc are continuously wiped down to minimize the risk of germs being spread

  • Additional soap dispensers will be placed in all washrooms. Touch-less paper towel dispensers have been installed

  • Hand sanitation stations to be place around the marina

  • All staff will be re-trained on proper hand washing, food and beverage handling, and provided with the necessary materials to properly sanitize their stations

  • Dedicated staff to clean high touch surfaces/ washrooms on scheduled intervals throughout your event

  • Social distancing practices are in place such as table placement, line ups etc. to adhere to 6ft regulations

  • All staff and guests are required to wear a mask. Guests are able to remove their masks once seated at their table Guests are required to put their mask on when moving around the marina (i.e. smoke breaks, using the rest room, mingling)

  • Upon entry guests will be asked to sanitize their hands and asked a series of questions related to Covid

Things to Consider:

  • Seat guests at their tables according to their family bubble

  • Cut down on your guest list, have a more intimate affair 

  • Ask those guests who have travelled outside the country or province to abide by public health guidelines of self-isolation for 14 days

  • Ask any guests who are feeling ill to stay home to avoid further spread

  • Avoid hugging and kissing, perhaps your MC could announce a fun way to greet each other!

**These considerations are based off current rules & may need to be changed/ altered

Cancelling Your Event

If the reason your event cannot go ahead as planned due to Government decision to close all venues, Shining Waters will release you of your contractual obligation. Since we are able to operate following CDC guidelines and you decide to cancel your event, initial deposits and monies paid will not be refunded.

**Rules & Regulations

Below is a list of regulations set by the CDC that Shining Waters must adhere to.


Guests will be asked the following questionnaire by a staff member:

  1. Are you feeling any of the following symptoms - a new cough, headache, weakness, fever, difficulty breathing, etc.?

  2. Have you travelled outside of the province in the last 14 days?

  3. Did you provide care or have close contact with a person with COVID-19 (probable or confirmed) while they were ill, and you did not have appropriate PPE?

  4. Are you awaiting a test result for the Covid virus?

  5. Guests will be asked to provide their name and contact information for contact tracing if a list is not provided in advance.



As of Thursday, November 26th, 2020 Shining Waters Events can operate at 25% of our max capacity, 50 people. Included in those fifty people are staff and vendors. This regulation will be re-evaluated on December 9th when the next briefing is scheduled. 


As of July 31st, 2020, wearing a non-medical mask is required. Children under 2 are exempt, as well as children 2 to 4 when their caregiver can't get them to wear a mask. Masks may be removed for eating and drinking. Couples during their wedding ceremony may also remove their masks and while taking bridal photos. Masks are to be worn when entering/ exiting, and while travelling to the washroom and other areas around the marina - REGARDLESS OF DRINK IN HAND. A mask must be worn during toasts, officiants/ pastors are exempt during the ceremony but must maintain 6ft distancing. Guests giving a speech must wear a mask.


Shining Waters will ensure adequate space among tables in order to adhere to social distancing regulations. We ask that you seat family bubbles together. Tables hold a maximum of 8 guests, we do have some tables that can accommodate 10. I am happy to draft up a floor plan for you! 


If you choose to have a dance, a fee for hired security to police the dance floor may be required. This is to ensure guests are wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and keeping track of numbers on the dance floor. Up to 10 guests in their family bubble are allowed in the marked off spaces on the dance floor. 


Currently buffet style and stand up cocktail style receptions are not permitted. If you currently have a buffet menu or stand up reception menu chosen, please contact me for options. 


We will arrange the ceremony chairs as per your seating chart to keep family bubbles together and keep each section/ family bubble 6ft apart so guests may remove their masks during the ceremony. Please remind guests to adhere to social distancing. Set up staff will place chairs accordingly to allow distance between rows. As people arrive, a staff member will greet your guests and direct them to the ceremony location and seat them in their section. Receiving lines for the time being are not permitted.

I am confident we can find a plan that works best for you and your party. I will continue to plan and move forward with each of you to ensure your event is perfect!
