Events & Weddings

Updated: Monday, March 7th, 2022

I want to take the time to address the ever-prevalent question - "How will Covid-19 affect my wedding or event plans at Shining Waters". I want you to know that I understand the stress and anxiety that can come with planning, without being amid a pandemic. I assure you that Shining Waters is monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely and will keep all our clients up to date as information becomes available. With so many affected, I plan to work with all clients on the best solution following guidelines set by the CDC, local and international health authorities.

My hope is that we are all following government recommendations and we will all be able to move forward in progress towards safe events and weddings. Below you will find policies we are required to follow and options Shining Waters has come up with in hopes that it will help alleviate some of the stress.

Rules & Regulations:

Below is a list of regulations set by the CDC and local Government that Shining Waters must adhere to.

Guests may be asked the following questionnaire by a staff member:

  1. Are you feeling any of the following symptoms - a new cough, headache, weakness, fever, difficulty breathing, etc.?

  2. Have you travelled outside of the province in the last 14 days?

  3. Did you provide care or have close contact with a person with COVID-19 (probable or confirmed) while they were ill, and you did not have appropriate PPE?

  4. Are you awaiting a test result for the Covid virus?

  5. Guests will be asked to provide their name and contact information for contact tracing if a list is not provided in advance.

Proof of vaccination is no longer required.

With the most recent update, Shining Waters is only permitted to operate at 75% capacity. This means max 150 people and must include staffing and your vendors. Social distancing is also required and we ask that you sit your guests together in their bubble.

As of July 31st. 2020, wearing a non-medical mask is required. Children under 2 are exempt, as well as children 2 to 4 years of age when their caregiver cannot get them to wear a mask. Masks are to be worn when entering/ exiting, and while travelling to the washroom and other areas around the marina such as ordering a drink at the bar. Masks may be removed for eating and drinking once seated. Couples and the officiant may remove their masks during the ceremony, guests and bridal party must remain masked if the ceremony takes place in-doors. Officiants/ pastors, musicians, and speakers may remove their masks when performing.

Dances are currently allowed, masks MUST be worn on the dancefloor while dancing. No drinking or eating while dancing, you must be seated at your table to remove your mask.

Shining Waters is able to return to regular hours. Last call is to be announced at 11:45pm and cease alcohol service at 12am.

Currently plated menus, buffet style and stand up cocktail style receptions are permitted but with stipulations. Additional staffing charges may apply if necessary.

Couples may remove their masks during the ceremony for their vows and photos, guests and bridal party must remain masked if in-doors. The wedding officiant may also remove their masks during the ceremony.

Some precautions we are implementing are:

  • Shining Waters will be increasing our cleaning and disinfecting standards to ensure all surface areas, handles, etc are continuously wiped down to minimize the risk of germs being spread

  • Additional soap dispensers will be placed in all washrooms. Touch-less paper towel dispensers have been installed

  • Hand sanitation to be place around the marina

  • All staff will be re-trained on proper hand washing, food and beverage handling, and provided with the necessary materials to properly sanitize their areas

  • Dedicated staff to clean high touch surfaces/ washrooms on scheduled intervals throughout your event

Things to Consider:

  • Seat guests at their tables according to their family bubble

  • Cut down on your guest list, have a more intimate affair

  • Ask those guests who have travelled outside the country or province to abide by public health guidelines of self-isolation for 14 days

  • Ask any guests who are feeling ill to stay home to avoid further spread

**These considerations are based off current rules & may need to be changed/ altered

I am confident we can find a plan that works best for you and your party. I will continue to plan and move forward with each of you to ensure your event is perfect! We are so lucky to live in such a digital world, if you need me I am here! Stay safe and stay home if you can, let's all do our part to get this over as quickly as possible.
